Traveling Skincare When I am In New Zealand

I was flying from Sydney to Auckland so I cannot carry too many skincare. I spent 5 days in New Zealand and these are the essential things I carried with me.

I prefer simple skincare and sample sachets to bring. My two favorite for double cleansing are; Clinique take the day off cleansing balm and Sulwasoo gentle cleansing foam ex (I only fill it up until half a bottle for 2 weeks traveling). I bring along my Klairs Supple Preparation Toner and put it in a small bottle container. Unfortunately, the toner bottle leaked and left me with nothing. Therefore I have to improvise by buying another toner in Countdown supermarket. I do not recommend trying out a new skincare product when you are on holiday as there is a possibility of irritating your skin. The risk of having zits on holiday because of trying out new product certainly is annoying. In my situation, I had to find another toner to replace mine, because the weather in New Zealand was so cold and my skin felt so dry without a toner. After strolling around countdown supermarket, I decided to buy 2 toners; Essano Rosehip Certified Organic Mist and Glow Lab Facial Toner. I bought the Essano toner because it’s a moisturizing benefit and the Glow Lab toner for its calming and soothing benefit.

I decided to try out the Glow Lab Facial Toner first, and luckily it did not break me out and it does help to soothe my skin. The mist is so fine, I really like this toner, such a gem. Unlike, the Essano Rosehip Certified Organic Mist, the Glow Lab Facial Toner cannot be found in Australia or at least I couldn’t find it in Sydney. There is Glow Lab product in woolworth but, the toner is not available which mean I cannot get my hands on the Glow Lab Facial Toner anymore unless I come back to New Zealand again.

I tried the Essano Rosehip Certified Organic Mist later on after I am home, and it did not work nicely on my skin, I end up giving it to someone else. Thankfully I did not try it when I was still on the holiday; otherwise, it will be disastrous to my skin.

In cold weather, I always include sheet masks in my traveling skincare routine. A sheet mask is great to add extra moisture and prevent dryness to the skin. I have my Tea Tree Shine Control & Blemish Clear Mask as prevention to a breakout and it is great for my oily skin. For 5 days trip I bring 2 sheet masks, I use it every 2 days.

I only carry one serum in my trip, the Drunk Elephant Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil (15 ml). This is the best serum to bring when I travel due to its versatility to deeply moisturize during cold weather and the lightweight texture that it absorbs quickly to the skin. Fyi, I also bring this marula oil in my trip to Japan. I use it after I applied Sulwhasoo First Care Activating Serum (8 ml).

The eye cream is also a must for me, I always choose eye cream in a sachet for traveling. I only need 2 to 3 sachet of eye cream for 2 weeks; a little goes a long way. I cannot bring along my favorite blossom Jeju eye cream because the packaging is too bulky, so I opt for the Sulwhasoo concentrated ginseng renewing eye cream ex. It has a slightly thicker creamy texture but not sticky.

I have 2 moisturizers; Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief and Sulwhasoo Essential Firming Cream both in travel size. I use the Clinique Moisture Surge for both day and night and the Sulwhasoo Essential Firming Cream for night time when my skin felt too dry. Lastly, I bring my etude house Etude House Sunprise Mild Airy Finish SPF 50+ PA+++ sample size (sachet). I bring a bunch of these sunscreen sample sachets. I used 2 sachets is enough for face and neck, and I use another two sachets to reapply sunscreen during the day.

Simple skincare is important when traveling, I always choose the serum I want to bring according to the weather. The rest of the products usually remains the same. Tell me in the comment about your skincare routine during traveling, what are your essential skincare?

  1. I’ll be travelling in a couple of weeks, and this really gave me a good idea on how to pack my skincare for it. Would mostly be packing sheet masks, night cream, cleansers, lots of sunscreens, and either a toner or a mist. This was a great post, I enjoyed reading it. Thanks for sharing, and do check out my blog as well. Looking forward to reading more of your content soon! Have a great day! 🙂

    1. I actually have a 10 step night skincare routine, but have to alternate it when traveling. And sample sachet of my fav products helps a lot during traveling, specially sunblock. Glad this post can help you, and I will do check your blog too. Thank you for reading my post 😄
