Japan has various kinds of kit kat flavors, from original, matcha, strawberry, Sakura & roasted soybean, mint, Creme Brule, baked sweet potato, blueberry cheesecake, ube, adzuki bean, and the list goes on. It easily found in a convenient store or Don Quijote.
However, if you want to find a special kit kat flavor, you must visit the Kit Kat Chocolatory and café in Ginza, Tokyo.

The first floor is the kit kat shop and the second floor is the café. I did not try the kit kat café, since we were just finishing our lunch, and does not feel like eating more. So, I just look around the kit kat store to try some of kit kat flavor I never eat before. The kit kat display is pretty and neat. They stack all colorful kit kat on a table and in a golden cage.

You might be wondering what is the difference between the kit kat you can find in Don Quijote?
It is a high-end kit kat store created by chef Yasuma Takagi. The ingredients of the kit kat in this store are premium. For example, one of the sublime volcanic series is crafted from rare cocoa beans from volcanic islands in Philippines Mindanao Island. The price point of Kit Kat Chocolatory is also higher.
As you can see from the above picture, 3 pieces of individual kit kat price at ¥1,500. And 5 pieces of fruits kit kat for ¥2,300. I personally purchase 3 pieces of kit kat from the Chocolatory just to get this 3-piece Gift Box set packaging.
I bought the Kit Kat Chocolatory Sublime Bitter. According to the website, it is a blend of three varieties of cacao, offering a roasted sensation, a floral sensation, and notes of fruit. With a cacao content of 66%, the slightly acidic bitter chocolate. The other one I got is Kit Kat Chocolatory Sublime Volcanic Philippines.
As you can see the comparison between the regular kit kat and the Premium kit kat. You can get a bag of kit kat (consist of ten pieces of kit kat) for ¥300 and with a similar price, you will get only 1 piece of premium kit kat. I like the Kit Kat Chocolatory Sublime Bitter, it gives a good balance between the bitterness and sweetness of the chocolate. Kit Kat Chocolatory definitely worth trying out if you are curious, also the chocolate tastes amazing. Perhaps the kit kat Chocolatory café menu has a more interesting dessert to offer, I will come back again to try the café next time.
