I love skincare gadget, as I previously posted a comparison between my foreo and Clarisonic. On my last traveling to Sydney, I come across this skincare gadget from Neutrogena. I have been eyeing this device for quite some time. It is quite difficult to find in Indonesia, so when I saw it, I immediately intrigued by it. And you know what? It was on sale, so lucky. The problem is there were two types of device, Neutrogena visibly clear light therapy spot treatment and Neutrogena visibly clear light therapy acne mask kit.
Neutrogena visibly clear light therapy spot treatment
This device is tinny; almost look like a small flashlight. The design is compact, sleek and light, very suitable for traveling. It is power by batteries and does not need an extra cartridge to function. The price is $40 (I got it for $30), it is cheaper than Neutrogena visibly clear light therapy acne mask kit.

How to use it: just put the light on your individual blemish; turn it on for 2 minutes. It will turn off automatically after two minutes. Yes, you have to hold it with your hand for two minutes, a little bit inconvenient. It is said to be able to use when you are on the go, like in the office. But I never did, I always use it at home, on clean skin.
Result: it did not immediately flatten the acne, especially if it is a large one. But it does help shrink the acne. Choose this one if you only breakout occasionally, such as acne that appears once a month on period.
Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask Kit
This one is a much bigger device that covers your entire face. It is a bit bulky to store and definitely not travel-friendly. The mask itself cost $69.90 (I got it for $40, huge discount btw). The mask will not function without its Neutrogena Light Therapy Acne Mask Activator 30 Treatments. The mask needs to be connected with its activator, which means you need to purchase extra tools along with the mask. They are sold separately. You will need to purchase the activator for $20.99. And there is more, 1 activator can only be used for 30 times. Once it’s run out, you need to buy another activator. So, in total, you will have to pay around $90.89 for the whole package. It is quite a lot of money for 30 used.

How to use it: put the mask on, connect it with the activator and turn it on for 10 minutes. It will turn off automatically. You don’t have to hold it with your hand for ten minutes. It can be used every day, once a day on clean skin.

Result: The mask is gear toward people with mild to moderate acne. The light is pretty bright, gradually you get used to it. It does not feel hot or painful. It said that this mask shouldn’t be used for a pregnant lady. The mask helps to reduce the inflammation and sooth my skin. I think the mask also slightly improve my skin clarity. I have used it for about 9 times, it really does help calm my acne overall. I have mild acne, which usually shows up during my period. Use it around that time, and also use it if I have few acne pops up simultaneously. Because if I use Neutrogena visibly clear light therapy spot treatment when I have few acne, it will take too long and my arm would probably be sore holding it.
Is it worth it buying both? I would say if you are having trouble with moderate acne, you should choose the Neutrogena Visibly Clear Light Therapy Acne Mask Kit. If not, just get the Neutrogena visibly clear light therapy spot treatment, much cheaper and practical. Then why would I buy both, if those devices have a similar function? It is simply because it was on sale and I couldn’t help myself. Therefore, I gave up on the temptation. Save up your money and just buy either one.
