I used to know so little about how important it is to cleanse your skin properly with the right product. When I was in my 20, I only cleanse my face with a soap bar or liquid soap that is recommended by a dermatologist I used to visit. And only use cleansing milk whenever I put makeup on (which was very rare).
Back in the day, when I started using SPF regularly with Clinique Super City Block Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF 40, I only clean my face with face wash. I did not do double cleanse.
I realize now that I have been doing it wrong and I was using the wrong products. That my skin was never actually cleaned properly that time. No wonder I always have pimples. Ever since I discover Kbeauty, I have been doing double cleansing method to clean my skin. Double cleansing is a must whenever I have to put makeup on or put on sunblock. Which, is basically every day (since I used sunblock every day).
It is important to do double cleanse. EVERY SINGLE DAY.
There are types of facial cleanser I used:
1. Cleansing Balm
Usually, this kind of cleanser is in the form of balm or sorbet consistency. It looks solid when you first open the jar, then turns oily when you apply it on your face and once it hits the water, it will change into milky and watery consistency that melts away makeup.
♥Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm.
This is my favorite balm ever. This product has been hyped by many people, and I am telling you the hype is real. A great cleansing balm for me is the one that feels slippery enough when I massage it on my face. It has no scent at all so for those of you who are sensitive to smell will enjoy this balm. It is very effective in cleansing every trace of makeup, including on eyes and lip. However, I think it is better to use another makeup remover on the eyes to completely remove it. the way I like to use this is taking a scoop of balm then rubbed it with both hands until it turns oily then massage it onto the face. I used to wipe it first with cotton then use water to melt the remaining residue. But later I find that using cotton to wipe the balm is not necessary, so I just go straight rinsing it with water after I’ve done massage it.

The only cons of this product are the price and the availability.
Where to buy: Sogo, metro or seibu department store.
Price: It is Rp 520.000, There is an online shop that sells it higher than the store price for Rp 500.000. probably because this product is so often sold out and took a long time to restock.
♥ Heimish All Clean Balm
Heimish All Clean Balm is a great alternative for Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm in term of function. Both are great in removing makeup, slippery enough to massage on face and easily dissolved with water. For me, it is like the Korean version of Clinique Cleansing Balm. The differences are the heimish balm texture is sorbet like with a slightly minty scent. The downside of this product is, sometimes when I ordered online, the balm already melted a bit and turns into oil. Even one time it was 80 % turn into oil and leaked, so I put it inside the refrigerator hoping it will harden. But it didn’t.

Price: it is cheaper than the Clinique balm in $22 and in Indonesia you can buy it for the price between Rp 210.000 to Rp 250.000 (online shop sell it in the various price range).
2. Cleansing oil
♥ Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Oil
I use Sulwhasoo cleansing oil, this cleansing oil has an herbal scent and it didn’t cause any breakout on my skin. at first, I did not enjoy this cleanser. I thought It is not slippery enough to message on my skin, turns out I did not use a sufficient amount of product. my bad. I used 3-4 pumps for the whole face and neck. This is my go-to cleanser whenever I travel.
Where to buy: Sogo Plaza Senayan, Sogo Mal Kelapa Gading 2, and Seibu Grand Indonesia
Price: the full size cost Rp 500.000 and travel size cost Rp 150.000
3. Cleansing water
♥ Bioderma sensobio H2O

I love cleansing water, it’s easy to use, fuzz-free and does not need water to rinse it over. Bioderma sensobio H2O is the only cleansing water I ever tried. I was hooked immediately after using it so I didn’t bother to try any other cleansing water (yet). This is a perfect cleanser in the morning before I go to the gym, or after the gym. I also use it to remover my sunblock (if I don’t have makeup on). Some people say that bioderma can also use to remove makeup. But for me, it can only remove light make up, on days that I only use concealer to cover my face with a little bit of blush and brows. However, when I have full makeup on with primer, foundation, cream contour, and heavy eye makeup, I would remove it with cleansing balm or oil instead.
Where to buy: Guardian or Watson
Price: size 100 ml for Rp 165.000 and 250 ml for 275.000
4. Cleansing Foam
♥Sulwhasoo Gentle Cleansing Foam ex

When I finish remove makeup off my face and rinse it with water, I will wash my face with this cleanser. This is cleansing foam is mild, and gentle for my skin. My holy grail second cleanser. I have tried others like cosrx cleanser, the face shop acne solution cleansing foam and clean&clear foaming facial wash. None of with works on my skin. Sulwhasoo cleansing foam didn’t feel tight on my face after it’s dried. My oily and acne prone skin love this cleansing foam very much. I am still looking for other facial wash that will work on me besides Sulwhasoo. Currently still trying on The SU:M 37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick.
Where to buy: Sogo Plaza Senayan, Sogo Mal Kelapa Gading 2, and Seibu Grand Indonesia
Price: the full size cost Rp 470.000 and travel size cost Rp 150.000
Highlights:

There are a lot of options out there for a good cleanser, and these are my current go to. The Clinique and Heimish balm has a similar texture and both are excellent to cleanse makeup. I love the clinique one better, but for the price, I would go for the Heimish one instead. I still used this product in my routine rotation. Have you tried any of these products?
